Our Writers’ Guild Awards have been celebrating the cream of British writing for over 60 years

The star-studded, red-carpet event has seen high-profile writers rub shoulders with emerging talent across all our different craft areas, and is unique in allowing writers to honour their peers. The ceremony has also been instrumental in shining a greater spotlight on the work of our union and raising awareness of the issues currently facing writers in the UK.

The awards have taken regular breaks throughout their history, reflecting the changing work of the WGGB and the contemporary landscape for writers.

The Writers’ Guild Awards are currently on pause while we re-evaluate them once again and consider how best they might support our work – and the needs of our membership – in future.
