Sol B. River

Sol B. River is a writer/producer/director. He became the first Black British writer to have a collection published by Oberon books/Bloomsbury and has been published in numerous anthologies. He has been nominated and received awards for his film, theatre, radio and television work.

His academic work as a Fellow and Advisory Fellow with the Royal Literary Fund allowed him to take on a peripatetic role as writer in residence at University College Chester, Leeds Trinity University, York St John University and the Arden School of Theatre.

Other residences include writer in residence at Leeds Playhouse and Talawa Theatre Company. Sol is also a former Associate Director at Contact Theatre Manchester.

The Guardian said that he “writes like Beckett on amphetamines” while Time Out commented: “River’s power and authority makes one eager to see what he’s going to do next.”
