I’m a screenwriter and storyliner based on a remote peninsula in the Scottish Highlands, where I work predominantly across continuing dramas, including Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Casualty, Waterloo Road and River City. I’ve written for children’s TV too, namely Dumping Ground and Eve.
As a playwright, I’ve had five plays staged, including a musical about how a group of Edinburgh women staged their own Rugby World Championship after their World Cup was cancelled by authorities, and a love triangle based in an allotment – I like variety!
I joined the Guild because freelance life is precarious, you need to know that someone is on your side. The Guild provides that support and connection in a career where you frequently work in isolation. And in an increasingly fragmented and challenging landscape, having an organisation like the Guild batting for writers’ rights is more important than ever.
