I was strongly encouraged to join the Writers’ Guild by older wiser writers when I got my first professional writing contract some 25 years ago – and it was the best career move I ever made. Since becoming a member, I have called on the Guild for support and advice on numerous occasions and have always received a prompt and clear response. I have attended events, and meetings, and it is great to feel part of a supportive community on both a regional and national level. Having someone in your corner working tirelessly to improve fairness and conditions within an industry that is especially challenging at the present time is invaluable. The Welsh Committee is a welcoming, friendly and active committee and it is a privilege to serve as its Chair.

Ces i fy annog i ymuno â’r Writers’ Guild gan awduron hŷn a doethach pan ges i fy nghytundeb ysgrifennu proffesiynol cyntaf ryw bum mlynedd ar hugain yn ôl – a dyna’r peth gorau rydw i wedi gwneud yn fy ngyrfa. Ers ymaelodi rydw i wedi galw ar y Guild am gymorth a chefnogaeth ar sawl achlysur a bob amser wedi derbyn ymateb clir a phrydlon. Rydw i wedi mynychu digwyddiadau a chyfarfodydd, ac mae’n hyfryd teimlo fel rhan o gymuned gefnogol ar lefel rhanbarthol a chenedlaethol. Mae gwybod bod rhywun ar eich ochr chi yn gweithio’n ddi-flino i wella tegwch ac amodau mewn diwydiant sy’n arbennig o heriol ar hyn o bryd yn amhrisiadwy. Mae Pwyllgor Cymru yn bwyllgor croesawgar, cyfeillgar a gweithgar ac mae’n fraint cael bod yn gadeirydd arno.
