Fee rise for UK Theatre playwrights

Playwrights working under WGGB’s UK Theatre agreement will see a 2% increase in minimum fees, thanks to negotiations by WGGB, the Scottish Society of Playwrights and the Personal Managers’ Association (PMA).

WGGB General Secretary Ellie Peers said: “We have been in continual negotiations with UK Theatre to update our national agreement. As the increase has taken some time to implement, it has been backdated to 1 May 2017 in recognition of this. The 2% increase in minimum fees is welcome and a recognition of the important work playwrights do.”

The increase means that a full-length play in a large subsidised theatre will now attract a minimum fee of £9,444.
