On World Radio Day (13 February 2025) we asked our members and supporters to share a video on their social media channels, tagging the BBC to tell the broadcaster why audio drama is important to them, the wider UK drama ecosystem and why they oppose the cuts to audio drama at the BBC.
Thanks to those who have shared their videos – you can see a selection below.
You can also still sign the petition to Save Audio Drama at the BBC.

For many British writers (including myself) BBC audio drama was where we started, where we learned, where we explored what we could do.
It’s being dismantled, removing a vital ladder for new writers in this country. #SADatTheBBC@TheWritersGuild@BBCRadio4@BBCRadio4 pic.twitter.com/5d1gOOzuQO

It’s @UNESCO #WorldRadioDay – the perfect time to remind you of the importance of @BBC #RadioDrama.@BBCRadio3 is axing it. @BBCRadio4 has cut most of it.

It’s World Radio Day! The BBC is making the tragic and bewildering decision to massively slash its audio drama budgets. Please protest that decision by making a short video with #SADattheBBC and tag @writersguildgb.bsky.social
