WGGB’s theatre negotiators have agreed a 1.5% rise on minimum fees under the union’s TNC agreement (covering the Royal Court, National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company).

The rise is backdated to 1 April 2018 and means the minimum rate for a full-length play rises from £12,554 to £12,742 (except for the Royal Court Upstairs, which rises from £9,825 to £9,973).

WGGB General Secretary Ellie Peers said, “Our national agreements in theatre mean that playwrights working for these three major theatres – as well as those working under our ITC and UK Theatre agreements – benefit from regular uplifts in minimum fees. The creative industry is worth over £92 billion a year to the UK economy and it is only right that playwrights receive credit and proper remuneration for their contribution.”
