Highlights from an occasionally chaotic patchwork of existence include a portfolio career as a writer, director and actor, stabilised by a sustained period within the university sector as an academic, teacher and latterly, a Head of a School of Arts. This has been punctuated by time spent helping a number of august bodies steer initiatives which celebrate and encourage talent, both established and emerging, and to this end I am also a committee member of the Royal Television Society, Midlands.

As a writer I am sustained by ideas and good coffee (although not necessarily in that order) but I also know that this is not enough and in addition to the joys and satisfaction our work brings, at times it can feel a little isolating and even daunting. This is where the Guild is an invaluable resource, providing a point of contact, a voice, a wider community and support where needed.
