Marie Macneill

About / Bio

After training as an actor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, I set up and ran the theatre company BEDSIDE MANNERS for 16 years, writing and directing some 45 touring shows. I went on to write for television, notably THE TRIBE for 2 years (11 episodes), which was broadcast on Channel 5 and world-wide. I have been commissioned many times to write feature films and TV series. My latest (2026) A PASTIS TO INDIA is currently in development.

I am Cornish, and live with my actor husband John Macneill  (who’s Scottish). I love to swim, but during the winter months I’m confined to an indoor pool in Falmouth.  I know!

For the last decade I have been working at the School of Film and Television, Falmouth University, as a senior lecturer specialising in Screenwriting.  I left in June 2025.

I am available as a Script Consultant, Script Editor, Reader and of course Writer and Director.
