A short story of mine, Laundrettes, won the 2024 Hastings Book Festival LGBT Prize

Two of my short stories have appeared in Postbow, a Scottish Arts Magazine.

My most recent plays, Queen Sacrifice and Loose Connections, have been workshopped by Caravan theatre and Up Ere Productions respectively

A stage play of mine, Homehelp, ran for three weeks at the White Bear Theatre in 2001.  In 2011, His Most-Obedient Servant, was produced for radio by The Wireless Theatre Company.  In  2012, RTE Radio (Ireland’s national radio station)  broadcast A muse is it I am?, a play based  on the relationship between James Joyce and his partner/wife.   Other short pieces have been performed in London and elsewhere.

I am from Limerick (Ireland), but have lived in London for many years.

 

Reviews for A La Carte – my last performed play (April 2018)                                                               ‘If there’s a subject that’s rich in buried emotions and subtext, it is funerals and their aftermath. In A La Carte – which is written by Richard Woulfe and directed by Clare Langford – we meet Terry (Edwin Flay) and Eric (Chris Pybus). Eric was ‘happily’ married to Clem (Cameron Bell), but unbeknownst to Eric, Clem had been sleeping with Terry – before AND after his marriage. ‘ the humanity and subtlety of Richard Woulfe’s delicately gentle piece A La Carte, a meeting between a grieving man played with an intriguing and pathos inducing angst by Chris Pybus, and the man with whom his recently deceased husband had been having a longstanding affair. The waves of grief and the chemistry between Pybus and Edwin Flay make this piece a haunting contemplation of loss, desire and the attempt to fill the emptiness of the heart.’
