Maisie Chan

Maisie Chan is an award-winning children’s author whose debut novel Danny Chung Does Not Do Maths won the Jhalak Children’s and YA Prize and Branford Board Award 2022. It was also shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Award. She has a Masters in American Film and Literature from the University of Birmingham and a PG Diploma in Writing from Birmingham City University.

She completed the Write4Film scheme (Scottish Film Talent Network) with Anna Seifert-Speck 2019-20. Was a BEATS fellow during 2020, her mentor was Emma Reeves (Tracy Beaker, The Worst Witch for CBBC).

She also completed the ScreenSkills Write For Animation course with Myles McLeod (Circle Square) which led to three months training with Magic Light Pictures on writing for their award-winning pre-school show Pip and Posy (2022). Most recently, she was chosen for BBC Writersroom: Scottish Voices 2023 (TV drama). She is currently working with a script editor from the NFTS course on her TV drama idea and has completed Writing for Comedy Drama with Hannah Robinson at NFTS Scotland.
