Pippa Hinchley

An actor since her teens, Pippa is best known as a former series regular in UK TV’s Coronation Street, but has starred in dozens of BBC series, TV movies & films, including The Bill, Eastenders, Holby City, Michael Palin’s hit, East Of Ipswich, The Dressmaker and the original Z for Zachariah. She also played Fergie in NBC’s epic royal TV movie, Fergie and Andrew but is never quite sure if she should mention it.

Theatre credits include: Bus Stop in London’s West End, several plays directed by Sir Alan Ayckbourn and dozens of regional shows from Shakespeare to Neil Simon.  In the US, Pippa has appeared in Touch (Fox TV), in Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut Welcome To People, & several indie films, web series and plays.
Having always written comedy sketches and short plays, Pippa eventually did a Masters in screenwriting at prestigious LCC (London) and now writes ‘female-fuelled’ comedy and drama across formats/platforms, creates online content & now directs whilst still being a passionate performer

Pip is one of 12 writers selected for the prestigious 2018 Meryl Streep/Nicole Kidman backed Women’s Writers Lab for her award winning historical feature script, ONE WHITE CROW.
Her comedy feature, UP YOURS, BRIDGET JONES, was a finalist in the National Lampoon competition in November.

Writing credits include:
Breaking Out   - her 1st short film script – an intense psychodrama which was a Cannes Official Selection (Critic’s Week 2004).  Directed by short film Oscar winner (Peter and The Wolf)  Marienela Maldonaldo, it was shown in over 20 international festivals and won Best European Short at Angers.

Pippa wrote for series 2 and 3 of the hit SONY (UK) plot-interactive teen drama, Sophia’s Diarythe first ever web series to go directly onto a terrestrial TV channel (C5).  Her all-female sketch show LIVE!SEX!GIRLS! (which she produced, directed and performed in) was a hit at two LA comedy festivals in 2010/11 and was then made into a web series- picked up by online channels in the US, UK and Europe.

Pippa wrote material for the Golden Globe/Emmy/BAFTA winning UK sketch show Smack The Pony and Sky TV’s No Limit; has had writing commissions from RHI/Hallmark for a TV mini-series and from Landscape TV/eOne in the USA to create a 10 hour historical drama.

One act play, Killer Christmas, was staged in LA in 2014 and 2016 at Studio C theatre at which point she decided to adapt it as a short film.

Pippa has been selected for several talent labs including the Berlin Talent Campus & Rutger Hauer Film factory - which made her short The Other Side.

Her company, DIY productions, is aimed at creating ‘female-fuelled’ comedy and drama content. She’s written, produced & performed two 5 star Edinburgh shows – a 5 person sketch show at the Gilded Balloon and a solo show at The Pleasance – Destination Elevation – which was also performed at Soho Theatre.

Awarded a Best Actress gong at London Shorts Fest for the comedy “Don’t Even Think It”  Pip thought she had it made but it was her co-star Miranda Hart that went supernova which shows what bollocks awards are. She was also nominated for Best Comedy Actor at WebFest in LA for her sketch show but didn’t bother going to that one. Her stand-up and character comedy in LALA had her reviewed as “Bridget Jones on acid”…and… “the party philosopher - a female Ricky Gervais”.

Pippa does have a philosophy degree, in fact. She grew up in London and Johannesburg and went to school with Americans – so she’s fucked up but really versatile.
