About / Bio

Line Langebek is a Danish screenwriter based in London.

She wrote THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE, which premiered In Competition at Cannes in 2024 and is Denmark’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards. Directed by Magnus Von Horn, the film is a beautifully realised, nightmarish drama set in post-WWI Denmark and was developed with Creative Alliance/Nordisk and funded by DFI. Line’s recent projects include REPATRIATION, a feature film developed with the BFI, co-creating and writing a 24-part crime series DE UNDERJORDISKE (The Underworld People) for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, writing a Finnish/UK feature film script with writer/director Miikka Leskinen and 65 Wilding Films, plus lead-writing a Finnish children’s series THE ROYALS NEXT DOOR (Pikkukala Productions).

Line’s first produced feature film I’LL COME RUNNING, which she wrote with director Spencer Parsons, was released through IFC Films in the US. Line’s formative work in the industry includes writing SINK OR SWIM for the Channel 4/Touchpaper COMING UP scheme and later being selected for the ‘Guiding Lights’ mentoring scheme, her mentor was Frank Cottrell-Boyce. She adapted a Rachel Seifert short story entitled FIELD STUDY, produced by Rooks’ Nest and directed by Eva Weber under the BFI Shorts Scheme. Line studied scriptwriting at Bournemouth University and literary translation at Middlesex University. To date she has worked as a commissioned writer in the UK, US, France, Denmark and Norway.
