Daf James
Daf James is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, composer and performer working across theatre, radio television and film in English and Welsh.
He trained in the Lecoq pedagogy at the London International School of Performing Arts and has a Ph.D in Theatre Studies from the University of Warwick.
His first full-length play LLWYTH [Tribe] ‘announced James as a major new voice, and pioneered a bold new Welsh-language theatrical vernacular’, which ‘changed the landscape of Welsh language theatre forever' (the Guardian/Contemporary Welsh Plays).
In relation to his most recent play TYLWYTH, he was described as ‘One of Wales’s most exciting playwrights’ (the Guardian), and ‘the best modern Welsh dramatist we have’ (Walesonline).
His work has been awarded a Total Theatre Award for Music and Theatre and he is currently writer in residence at the Sherman Theatre.

He’s currently translating TUESDAY by Alison Carr for Nick Hern Books, as well as his own play HERITAGE for the WJEC drama syllabus.
