Frances Brody

Frances Brody (pseudonym of Frances McNeil) is the author of nine mysteries set in 1920s Yorkshire,  featuring First World War widow turned detective, Kate Shackleton. A Death in the Dales (2017) is long-listed for the CWA Historical Dagger Award 2018. A Woman Unknown was short-listed for the Mary Higgins Clark Award. Suspense Magazine (USA)chose A Death in the Dales as "Best of 2017".  Before turning to crime, Frances wrote three historical novels, Sisters on Bread Street, Sixpence in Her Shoe and Halfpenny Dreams.  For the first, she won the HarperCollins Elizabeth Elgin Award.
