Andrew Viner

Andrew Viner

“Writing is a very isolated job, so it’s great to be a member of an organisation that gives us all a stronger, collective voice. One of the things that the Writers’ Guild is working for is to improve animation writers’ pay rates (usually low) and terms (usually buyouts, so no repeat fees), with the hope of eventually bringing them into line with those for live action writers.

“And a pension scheme where the broadcaster pays in extra money for you is pretty good too.”

Andrew Viner has written over 100 episodes of children’s animation, as well as other television, radio plays (Goal Difference, When I Lived in Peru, Speechless), radio sketches and one-liners, newspaper articles, a short film and a book (Venn That Tune). You can see more about his work on his website.
