UK Theatre minimum rates increase

Playwrights working under WGGB’s UK Theatre agreement will see a 2% increase in minimum fees, thanks to negotiations by WGGB, the Scottish Society of Playwrights and the Personal Managers’ Association (PMA).

The increase, which is backdated to 1 May 2016, means that a full-length play in a large subsidised theatre will now attract a minimum fee of £9,259.

WGGB Acting General Secretary Ellie Peers said: “I’m extremely pleased about the 2% uplift in minimum fees, UK playwrights deserve it. We have been having really positive negotiations with UK Theatre and will continue to work with them to ensure that the collective agreement is relevant and future proof.”
