WGGB has secured 2% rates rises for writers working under the union’s ITV and BBC radio drama agreements.

The ITV uplift in minimum fees is backdated to 1 November 2018 and sees the rate for an original teleplay rise to £14,061 per hour slot length. Series and serials rise to £11,004 per hour slot length while long-running series rise to £3,668 per half-hour slot length.

In radio drama, the minimum fees for non-established writers for two transmissions rises to £65.85 while the established writers’ rate for two transmissions is now £99.32 (backdated to 1 November 2018), plus uplifts in minimums for Archers writers, for short stories and abridgements. The new podcast rates have also increased. This is on top of a 2% pay rise in August 2018.

WGGB has also negotiated a new podcast deal for writers under its BBC radio drama agreement – introduced in August 2018. An updated version of the Radio Drama Agreement (RDA) will be published soon.
