The 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe is nearly upon us. If you’re a writer taking a show to Edinburgh, or you’re attending as a visitor, we’ve got a programme of events coming up. With both virtual and in-person events throughout August, there’s something for everyone (WGGB members and non-members alike), and we look forward to seeing you.

Heading to Edinburgh: a virtual writers’ meetup (WGGB members only) – event now finished
Ahead of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe next month, WGGB is hosting an informal online meet-up for writers who are taking a show to the festival or going as a visitor. Join us to discuss your tips and tricks and how to get the most out of the Fringe as a writer. This will be an informal meeting in which members will be able to chat, meet fellow writers and share their own experiences.

Edinburgh drop-in casework sessions (WGGB members only) – events now finished
Are you worried that your contract isn’t quite right? Do you have concerns about your copyright? Do you feel like you are on the verge of a dispute? If you need someone to talk to while you’re at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, our casework team will be on hand with two free drop-in Zoom sessions for members. Come and share your concerns and get some advice from your union. (If you need contract vetting or casework support at another time, please email casework@writersguild.org.uk.)
Writers’ coffee morning (open to non-members too) – event now finished
WGGB Assistant Organisers Joe Abel and Eleanor Dawson will be hosting an in-person coffee morning for writers in Edinburgh. This is a social meetup where writers can meet and discuss their experiences of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe over a cup of coffee. Open to both members and non-members.
