Following the tragic death of George Floyd and the worldwide Black Lives Matter movement the WGGB joined many others in observing #BlackOutTuesday on Tuesday 2 June 2020.
Our Equality and Diversity Committee is currently formulating an action plan to best support our BAME members and the issues they face.
If you would like to join the discussion please email ED@writersguild.org.uk
We also urge anyone who has suffered racial discrimination to utilise our Report It! survey for writers and let WGGB know. All instances reported can remain anonymous if preferred (and any details you do provide will be treated strictly in accordance with our Privacy Notice). You can complete the survey here.
The Report it! survey is designed to capture writers’ experiences within the creative industries and to help us build a picture of current practice and raise headline issues in anonymised and collated form with broadcasters, producers or other relevant bodies.
If you are a writer working in TV, film, theatre, radio, books, comedy, poetry, animation or videogames, you can use Report it! to tell us about good practice, bad practice, discriminatory practice, bullying or harassment.
If you need immediate support though please contact the WGGB office by email on admin@writersguild.org.uk
