When did you first realise you wanted to write for a living?

I have been writing since I was a child. For me, writing is not a job, so I don’t write to live, I live to write.

Which writer, past or present, do you most admire?

There are many contemporary writers whom I admire, not only I, but people from all over the world. From my country, Romania, would be Mircea Eliade, Mihai Eminescu, Ion Creangă, and from the United Kingdom I admire Roald Dahl, Charles Dickens, Beatrix Potter and Agatha Christie.

What was your first published (or performed) credit as a writer?

My first published credit as a writer was the children’s storybook, The Brave Squirrel and The Enchanted Hazelnut Tree. It is a book whose idea I wrote when I was only 10 years old and which I returned to finish in 2020, when I also published it in several languages (English, Romanian, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Japanese). And from then others publications followed.

Which piece of writing work are you most proud of?

I love all the books I’ve written so far, most of them for children. I can’t say that I have a favourite because I am attached to each of them in a specific way, because in each of these writings I put a different emotional charge.

Who or what inspires you to write?

I grew up surrounded by books and especially with people who loved books and writing. My grandfather on my father’s side was a writer of monographic books and not only that, but also a museographer and painter. My father in turn wrote children’s books and books of poetry, and my grandfather on my mother’s side loved to read, he was always reading a book at a time. I can say that both my grandparents and my father were the biggest inspiration for me, giving me their passion for books and under their guidance I came to love books enough to write them myself and more recently to dress them up with covers and illustrations because in addition to writing I am also a graphic designer.

How do you switch off when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing I like to paint, travel and do sports.

Which one piece of advice would you give to aspiring writers?

I believe that when you have a passion, you don’t have to give it up if that passion makes you happy, even if sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to. Any passion requires a lot of work but also patience to be able to become better at what you do every day. So if you like to write then keep writing.

Why are you a member of WGGB?

I am a member of WGGB because here I have the opportunity to connect with people who embrace the same passions and find a lot of useful information in this field.
