Ariel Lavi

When did you first realise you wanted to write for a living?

When I was 15 years old I started my journey as an actor. I knew that it isn’t enough to audition. I decided to create my roles myself.

Which writer, past or present, do you most admire?

Aaron Sorkin.

What was your first published (or performed) credit as a writer?

Currently I’m a student and I gained a few diplomas in screenwriting and I’m working on my first film.

Which piece of writing work are you most proud of?

I’m proud of my present project.

Who or what inspires you to write?

Life.

How do you switch off when you’re not writing?

Writing is a major part of my artistic life. I also enjoy acting, directing and producing.

Which one piece of advice would you give to aspiring writers?

To write all the time and to be yourself.

Why are you a member of WGGB?

It allows me to be a part of a group of writers that has similar interest in writing and somehow to participate in the long tradition of the British writing.

A union actor in Equity actors’ guild UK,  I have been acting for 10 years. I acted in fringe theatre: the Studio, Haifa, Israel, and in addition acted in classical plays: Midnight Summer Night’s Dream, Tartuffe, Macbeth. I’m doing private coaching with a Hollywood actress. I participated in a masterclass with Kimberly Graham, Sean Grant and Justin Kurzel. I have a certificate in film-making from NFTS. I have a few certificates in Screenwriting from UK universities: East Anglia and Open University, and Columbia College, Hollywood. I’m a student at University of Haifa.
