Charles Garland writes for publication, stage and television. Work includes:
Libretti for five full-length stage musicals, lyrics and music for four of these, plus libretto, music and lyrics for several one act schools musicals, including Another Way, which toured successfully in Norfolk as part of an anti-bullying campaign.
Situation comedy pilots for the BBC, occasional contributions to variety programmes, and many contributions to broadcast comedies.
Many comedy sketches for The Actor’s Centre in London and Newcastle as part of a popular six day course Sitcom From Scratch devised and led by Charles twice a year for five years.
Two act play On The Same Side performed at the Tristan Bates Theatre London, now adapted as a screenplay and also a two part television drama (now entitled Death Duty)
NotAny Painted Angel, a novel, awaits publication, while My Labrador Eats Poo, a book of ‘whimsical verse’ is available from Amazon. It's not as yukky as it sounds. Honestly.
Having recently directed a film short, I am now concentrating on film and television, with a new situation comedy series in development.
Charles has an MA in creative writing from the University of East Anglia.
