The annual Writers’ Guild Awards ceremony will take place on 15 January 2018 at the Royal College of Physicians in central London.
Nominations in all categories are open until midnight on 1 October 2017 (except Best Online Comedy, which closes at midnight on 6 October 2017). Best First Novel nominations are now closed.
Writers may nominate their own work if they wish.
Eligibility for all categories (apart from Best First Novel and Best Online Comedy): the work must have been broadcast, performed or released between 1 October 2016 and 29 September 2017. The eligibility period for Best First Novel is publication between 1 October 2016 and 31 August 2017. Best Online Comedy eligibility can be found here.
The categories are as follows:
TV – Best Children’s Episode, Best Long Running Series, Best Short Form Drama, Best Long Form Drama, Best Situation Comedy
Film – Best Screenplay, Best First Screenplay
Games – Best Writing in a Video Game
Radio – Best Drama, Best Comedy
Theatre – Best Play, Best Play for Younger Audiences
Books – Best First Novel
Comedy – Best Online Comedy

A special Outstanding Contribution to Writing Award will be announced at the ceremony, although that is not eligible for public nomination (this category is selected by the WGGB Executive Council).
