John Knowles

John Knowles

“A love of theatre. As a writer / director / producer I am continuously developing new works and developing relationships with performers, musicians and fellow writers. Although I have a vision and a desire to tell my own stories, I also love the creative process of working with others and creating theatre which engages the public. My work is continuously reviewed as being lyrical and poetic and yet remains for me highly political and personal.”

John Knowles is a writer / director / producer whose credits include Shadow of the Rose and Punched, which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019. Caliban’s Codex and Toby Belch is Unwell are two of his  monologues, while his absurdist drama Bar Barbarian is due to tour Serbia in 2020. His play The Grit of Life is currently in development, while other credits include his short film Clown Time, and Dinner Thrillers – a series of murder mystery events. Actor David Morrissey has said of his work “his scripts never fail to make me laugh”, while comedian Doon Mackichan said his writing is “fabulously blackly comic and timed to perfection”.
