In 2012 WGGB member and playwright Fin Kennedy attended a Parliamentary reception as part of the Performers’ Alliance, of which WGGB is a member. At this event, he spoke to Culture Minister Ed Vaizey about the impact of Arts Council funding cuts on new writing in theatre. Ed Vaizey assured him there was no impact, but Fin Kennedy set out to prove otherwise, producing a report, and starting the In Battalions campaign, which eventually led to the Government introducing tax breaks for new plays and regional touring.
