WGGB: The Writers' Union - AGM 2019

WGGB AGM 2019 at the iconic Unicorn Theatre

In the 60th anniversary year of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, all WGGB members are invited to attend this year’s AGM, which will be held on Monday 24th June 2019 at the Unicorn Theatre. The event runs from 10.30am to 5pm.  There will be a separate drinks reception afterwards.

The venue is located the heart of London in sight of the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. It is easily accessible via London Bridge station – see maps and guide.

Along with the usual business of running our union, at this year’s AGM Saskia Schuster will be our guest speaker. Saskia is Controller for Comedy at ITV, commissioning hour-long comedy dramas, half-hour scripted comedy, sketch shows and comedy entertainment formats.  Saskia is the founder of Comedy 50:50, an initiative to address gender imbalance in comedy, which launched last October. Before joining ITV, she was a comedy commissioner at Sky where her commissions included: Yonderland, Little Crackers for Sky 1, Nixon’s The One, Nellie and Melba, Walking The Dogs, Psychobitches, City Hall and A Young Doctor’s Notebook for Sky Arts, Ronna and Beverly for Sky Atlantic, The Spa, Gates, Love Matters, Give Out Girls and Trying Again for Sky Living.

We hope that many members from across the UK will come together to celebrate our past and determine our future.
