Mike Elliston

Award winning theatre playwright and occasional TV writer with 30 years experience.

My Arts Council funded "TRAILER/trash", co-commissioned  by The Quarry Theatre,  opened Bedford April 2018 prior to planned tour in 2019.  Audiences have been wowed by the play so far:

“This is a Thelma & Louise for our times” -  4 stars, Female Arts

"Wow. Just wow!"

"Funny and moving in equal measures."

"We lived and loved every minute of it!"

"This was a stunning production. Both Frankie and Shyanne were utterly absorbing and convincing characters, drawing us into their lives so we could feel their hopes and their pain vividly. The production was beautifully scripted with some really clever twists and linguistic plays. Thank-you, thank-you for a wonderful performance and a fabulous evening."

"it had me laughing, crying and on the edge of my seat throughout. Anyone around the MK gallery tonight should go see it for its final performance! Amazing show!"

"It is moving and funny and the writing is amazing and the acting is superb."

I started writing plays in 1982.

In 1983 I won my first award - a Fringe First - at the Edinburgh Festival for my play "Bread 'n' Butter Guns" which then went on to win another at the NSDF (The Yorkshire TV Award).  My play about Myra Hindley and Ian Brady (Morons & Cabbages) was shortlisted for an award by Yorkshire Playwrights.

I have worked as a script editor and script writer for ITV and C5 and have written for numerous corporate videos, as well as undertaking research for factual TV programmes.
