In 2009, to celebrate our 50th birthday, we commissioned author Nick Yapp to write the history of the Writers’ Guild, The Write Stuff. To mark our Diamond anniversary we have published it as a flipbook and Nick has also written the next chapter of our history, covering the decade that followed. Our history
On 13 May 1959, a group of writers met in a basement in Harley Street to form the Television and Screenwriters’ Guild – later to be renamed the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain. Six decades on, WGGB is a thriving union, with an impressive number of wins under its belt, as you will see in this section
