UPDATE: Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower London Writers’ Week has announced that the week will now be a benefit to support the victims, with 100% of the profits being donated to them. The event has now also moved to the Tabernacle in Notting Hill, which is close to the tower. A special panel event will also run exploring the role writers can play in helping with tragedies such as this

WGGB will support London Writers’ Week again this year, and will feature in the festival programme with a special ‘in conversation’ event with Writers’ Guild President Olivia Hetreed.

The theme of this year’s week, which will take place from 4-9 July 2017, is digital media and cross platform work.

Other contributors include Chief Executive of the Creative Industries Federation John Kampfner and Australian Academy Award nominee David Evan Giles.

Writers will also be able to get access to advice from the BBC, Tamasha Theatre Company, Boundless Theatre, writer Al Smith, the Pervasive Media Studio, Philip Shelley, who runs Channel 4’s screenwriting course, John Yorke, one of the UK’s leading television producers, and former Creative Director of New Writing at the BBC Kate Rowland.

Director of London Writers’ Week Jennifer Tuckett said: “It is increasingly important writers consider digital media as a possible area to write for and with. However, as a new form, research has shown it can be difficult to get access to advice on how to do this. We hope this year’s London Writers’ Week addresses this issue by providing access to some of the most exciting work and ideas going on in and using digital media in the UK.”

This year’s London Writers’ Week has sessions for writers for theatre, film, television, radio, digital media and other forms, young writers, teachers, the industry, and anyone interested in new writing.

For the first year London Writers’ Week is offering a festival pass, offering free access to all 24 events, for £60.

All events take place at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill.
