Heartunions Week 2020

Show your love for your union during the TUC’s annual Heartunions Week, which takes place from 10-16 February. And if you’re not yet a member, join!

The theme of this year’s week is tackling sexual harassment at work, and the TUC has produced some resources to protect yourself in the workplace.

TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady (pictured above, centre) will be kicking off the week on Monday 10 February, with an urgent call.

One in two women have been sexually harassed at work and the TUC is demanding that employers take all reasonable steps to protect workers from sexual harassment and victimisation. But they need your help, and you can register online to join the call at 7pm on 10 February.

The TUC has produced a range of resources and merchandise for Heartunions Week, highlighting the vital role that unions play.

They also have a handy Unionfinder tool.

If you are a writer working in TV, film, theatre, radio, books, comedy or videogames – whether you have professional credits or not – then WGGB is your union. We have a range of membership packages (starting from just £30 a year; or £9 per month) and we also welcome student writers.

We have chalked up some impressive wins for writers over 60 years, and have become a powerful campaigning force (around issues such as bullying and harassment, equality and diversity). We offer a range of benefits, including free contract vetting, screenings, networking events, jobs and competition alerts, a pension scheme and welfare fund. You can join online here and find out why members like Tony Robinson, Kay Mellor, Tom Stoppard and Laura Wade value their membership of WGGB.

And if you’re already a member of WGGB, thank you for supporting your union. The more members we have the stronger we are so please, encourage other writers to join! Spread the word on social media using the hasthag #heartunions
